Meet Keith O’Brien author of Fly Girls: How Five Daring Women Defied All Odds and Made Aviation History. The book is the untold story of five women who fought to compete against men in the national air races of the 1920s and 1930s. The five remarkable women: Florence Klingensmith, Ruth Elder, Amelia Earhart, Ruth Nichols, and Louise Thaden, fought to race against men in the between-the-wars popular and dangerous sport of airplane racing. The author event, hosted by the Kenton County Public Library, and co-sponsored by the Books by the Banks Book Festival and Northern Kentucky University’s Friends of Steely Library group. Joseph Beth Booksellers will have books for purchase at the event, and the author will be available for a book signing after his presentation.
